Sydney Special Vehicles is a family business which started back in 1987.
A brief history
The business was started by the father & son team of Ken & Steve White back in 1987. To start with we were only a used car business specialising in selling good 2nd hand Commodores. Right from the start we used a variety of car customising parts to add variety to the range of vehicles we were selling. In 1989 we purchased the old "Top Rider" motor cycle business premises & still operate solely from this location today. This prominently located premises at Ryde gave our business a large showroom with large workshop areas underneath plus huge exposure on one of the busiest intersections in Sydney. This exposure soon created a new problem! Not only did we have customers wanting to buy our great looking customised cars, but we also had many customers wanting us to customise their existing cars so that they looked as good as the vehicles we had customised for sale. This was not something that we originally planned for, but we soon realised the business of car customising was poorly catered for in Sydney & so decided to add this to our business services. Originally it was manly centred around customising Commodores, but that soon changed as car customising products became available for more & more models. Then there was another unexpected demand, the trade businesses all over Australia also started enquiring of our products because they had trouble finding good suppliers of body kits & rear wings for their customers. We now have over 5000 trade businesses around Australia reselling our car customising parts. More recently we are a business that mainly supplies & fits car customising parts to the trade & public, but we do still have some cars for sale. SSV's staff have gained their knowledge and skills in the specialised areas of car customising from their involvement in customising and enhancing well over 15,000 cars for private and trade customers since 1987.
